Student Center

How can a public building provide a variety of environments that cater to each individual user’s needs?
Acknowledging that different students require different environments for focused study, this small student center on Auburn’s campus aims to provide each student with a study area that is ideally suited to their needs. The building’s architecture focuses on creating spaces that provide a variety of conditions in which to study and gather: open and closed spaces, elevated and nestled spaces, surrounded and exposed spaces. Extraverted study areas where users are on full display are complemented by cozy study nooks isolated from noise and distractions. Open floorplates and a central winding staircase help unite the building’s four main levels.
