How can we flip the paradigm on forgotten and misunderstood spaces — both wild and urban — to bring life back to a historic farming community?
Downtown Twin Falls historically served as the center of the Magic Valley, an agricultural region located along the Snake River in southern Idaho. Following a familiar trajectory, the Downtown area experienced a period of decline in the late 1900s as car-centric, strip commercial development stretched northwards along Blue Lakes Boulevard. To bring life back to the historic center, we worked with the community to identify Downtown’s overlooked assets — its hidden gems — to polish and turn into major features and attractions. With a born-and-raised Magic Valley local on our design team, we developed a bold set of recommendations that leverage Twin Falls’ untapped potential to create a vibrant, sustainable, connected, and scenic Downtown.
GGLO led the project and I contributed as designer and primary author of the Master Plan document.
